Your Amazon Business Doesn’t Need More Hours

It needs better focus. Here’s where smart sellers spend their time.

Most Amazon sellers are busy… but not productive 😅

I’ve seen this over and over.

A seller spends 6 hours tweaking fonts on their A+ Content…

…then ignores the PPC campaign that’s bleeding cash like a leaky faucet.

Or they spend all weekend researching “the perfect product” while their current listing has blurry images and a title written like a robot sneezed on the keyboard.

That’s the trap.

Amazon rewards focused action.

Not busy work.

And that’s where the 80/20 Rule changes everything. 🎯

The idea is simple:

80% of your results usually come from 20% of your actions.

The hard part?

Figuring out WHICH 20% actually matters.

Because when you work a full-time job, have kids screaming in the background, and only get 90 minutes at night to build your Amazon business…

…you can’t afford to waste time polishing pennies.

You need dollars.

The Lawn Mower Story I’ll Never Forget 📦

A few years back, I worked with a seller named Mike.

Good guy.

Worked construction during the day.

Amazon at night.

He sold lawn mower covers.

Not sexy.

Not exciting.

Just plain black covers.

Mike was exhausted.

Every week he bounced between:

  • Watching YouTube tutorials

  • Testing random software

  • Changing bullet points

  • Obsessing over competitors

  • Refreshing Seller Central 47 times a day 😅

But sales barely moved.

Then we did one simple exercise.

I asked him:

“What activities actually led to sales?”

Not what felt productive.

What caused revenue.

The answer shocked him.

Almost all his sales came from just 3 things:

  1. His main image

  2. His top 5 keywords

  3. His PPC bids on exact match terms

That was it.

Not the logo.

Not the fancy storefront.

Not the 18-tab spreadsheet from 2017.

So Mike stopped trying to do everything.

Instead, he spent 80% of his limited time improving those 3 things.

Here’s what happened over the next 60 days:

  • CTR jumped from 0.9% to 2.4%

  • ACOS dropped by 31%

  • Sales nearly doubled

Same product.

Same budget.

Same guy.

Different focus.

That’s the 80/20 Rule in action.

If You Only Have 1 Hour a Day… Focus HERE 🔥

If I had to rebuild an Amazon business from scratch while working a day job…

These are the only things I’d focus on first.

1. Your Main Image

Your main image is your billboard.

Nobody clicks ugly.

I don’t care how good your product is.

If your image looks dark, cluttered, or confusing…

…people scroll right past you like yesterday’s garage sale sign.

Spend time here:

  • Make the product BIG

  • Improve lighting

  • Increase contrast

  • Show value instantly

  • Compare against top competitors

One image can double your clicks.

Literally.

2. Your Top Keywords

Not 5,000 keywords.

Just the few that matter most.

Too many sellers chase every keyword like a dog chasing squirrels.

You don’t need traffic from everywhere.

You need buyers.

Find:

  • Your highest-volume keyword

  • Your best converting keyword

  • Your most profitable keyword

Then optimize your:

  • Title

  • First bullet

  • PPC campaigns

  • Backend terms

Around those.

That’s where momentum starts.

3. Your PPC Waste 💸

Most Amazon ad accounts look like a buffet plate after Thanksgiving.

Too much junk.

If you’re short on time, don’t obsess over advanced PPC tricks.

Start with this:

  • Cut keywords wasting money

  • Lower bids on bad performers

  • Push budget toward winners

  • Focus on exact match campaigns

Simple wins stack fast.

A cleaner PPC account gives you oxygen.

And oxygen matters when margins are tight.

Here’s the Truth Nobody Likes Hearing 👀

Most sellers don’t have a time problem.

They have a focus problem.

Amazon gives you endless things to do.

That’s dangerous.

Because you can feel productive while making zero progress.

I’ve done it too.

Years ago, I spent 3 straight days redesigning a product insert card.

Three days.

You know what happened?

Nothing 😂

Sales didn’t move.

Reviews didn’t spike.

The customer barely noticed.

Meanwhile, my PPC campaign was burning cash like a bonfire at summer camp.

Lesson learned.

The winners on Amazon aren’t always the smartest.

They’re usually the sellers who focus longer on the things that actually move the needle.

The Big Takeaway 🎯

If your time is limited…

Don’t try to master everything at once.

Master the few things that create most of the results.

For most sellers, that means:

  • Better clicks

  • Better keywords

  • Better ad decisions

That’s the core.

That’s the money zone.

Everything else comes later.

Remember:

“A dull axe makes hard work harder.” 🪓

Sharpen the few things that matter most.

Your future self will thank you.
