You Built the Store. Now Bezos Wants the Keys
Amazon wants in on your website. Should you let them crash the party?

📖 Let me tell you about Jamie…
Jamie runs a Shopify store selling personalized kitchen gear—cutting boards, engraved utensils, the works. Her Amazon listings do okay, but she wanted to take back control. You know, own her customer list, stop paying Bezos a toll for every sale, and actually build her brand.
Then she heard about “Buy with Prime.”
Amazon said: “Plug this into your website and offer Prime shipping—even off Amazon.”
It sounded too good to be true.
But Jamie took the leap.
She added “Buy with Prime” to her site, thinking it’d boost conversions like magic.
Here’s what actually happened…
🔢 Let’s Break Down “Buy with Prime” Like a Steak at a BBQ
So what is this thing?
“Buy with Prime” is a shiny little button you can slap on your non-Amazon site. It lets shoppers:
Log in with their Amazon account
Get Prime shipping (2-day)
Pay using Amazon’s checkout
But for us sellers? That means:
You still need to fulfill through Amazon (FBA)
You don’t get the customer email
You pay Amazon fees just like on Amazon
Your own checkout takes a backseat
And remember, this only works if you already use FBA.
So it’s not a magic pill. It’s more like adding a VIP lane to your existing traffic—if you’ve got it.
🎯 Here’s What Jamie Found Out After 60 Days
✅ Pros:
Conversions went up 20% for Prime buyers
She got fewer “Where’s my order?” emails
It built trust for first-time buyers
❌ Cons:
She paid 15%+ in fees—on her own site!
She didn’t capture emails from Prime checkouts
Analytics were limited (Amazon keeps the good stuff)
The kicker?
She only got about 30% of her sales through Buy with Prime.
The rest still came from her standard checkout… which had better margins and gave her full customer data.
Her verdict?
“It helped with trust. But I wouldn’t build my whole site around it.”
🎯 So… Is It Worth It?
Here’s my take, straight up:
If you’re already using FBA, and you’re driving solid traffic to your Shopify or Woo store… “Buy with Prime” could be a trust booster.
But if you’re tight on margins…
…or you want to build your email list…
…or you don’t love the idea of Amazon creeping back into your customer data…
Then maybe skip it.
It’s a tool—not a strategy.
And it only works if you work it right.
💬 Proverb Time:
“If Amazon’s the house, don’t give them your front yard too.” 😏
🗣️ Final Thoughts from Coach Andy
At the end of the day, your goal is freedom—not just more orders.
Don’t let the buzz around “Buy with Prime” blind you to what matters:
✅ Profits
✅ Ownership
✅ Repeat customers
So sure, test it.
Just don’t bet the farm on it.
