The AI War Begins: Will Amazon’s Tool Help or Hurt Your Sales?
AI can save you time... or kill your sales. Here’s what every seller needs to know before clicking “Generate.”

AI just marched onto your Amazon listing... should you welcome it, or grab your pitchfork?
📖 Real Talk from the Trenches
Let me tell you about Jamie — one of my coaching clients.
Jamie’s a stay-at-home dad who started selling on Amazon with a bamboo cheese board set. He poured his heart (and a chunk of his savings) into getting it right. When he saw Amazon roll out their new “Generate Listing” AI tool, he thought, “Hey, finally! No more blank screens, no more keyword guessing. Let the robot do its thing.”
Sounds great, right?
Well… not quite.
Jamie plugged in his product and watched as the AI whipped up a listing in seconds. It looked slick. It sounded fancy. He hit publish, kicked back, and waited for the sales to roll in.
Crickets. 🦗
Worse? The listing didn’t hit any of his key customer triggers. It skipped his main unique selling point (built-in cheese knife drawer), flubbed the keywords, and sounded more like a wine commercial than an Amazon listing.
He ended up rewriting it all by hand… two weeks and 13 missed sales later.
🔢 The AI Tool Breakdown (What You Need to Know)
Let’s break it down like it’s leg day.
Here’s what Amazon’s “Generate Listing” tool can do:
✅ Save time — no more staring at the “Product Description” box
✅ Pull from competitor data and category trends
✅ Use keywords (kinda)
But here’s where it stumbles:
❌ It's generic — Think “one-size-fits-all,” when what you need is “tailored tux”
❌ It doesn’t know your customer — It’s not tuned in to your avatar’s fears, goals, and buying triggers
❌ It misses emotional hooks — No story, no trust, no sale
❌ It’s not trained on YOU — Your voice, your product angle, your unique hook
The tool’s like giving a robot a paintbrush. Sure, it might draw something, but don’t expect it to nail the Mona Lisa.
🎯 The Real Lesson? AI is a Tool, Not a Magic Wand
Can you use AI to start your listing? Sure.
Should you copy-paste it and hope for the best? That’s a hard pass.
The sellers who win on Amazon don’t rely on shortcuts — they use tools smartly.
They edit.
They personalize.
They add strategy.
Just like Jamie learned: AI can help you build the frame. But the house? That still needs your blueprint.
💬 Say It With Me:
"AI can write, but it can’t sell unless I tell it how."
🗣️ Final Word from Andy
Here’s my stance as someone who’s spent the last two decades testing ads, writing copy, and helping sellers scale:
Don’t fear the AI tools.
But don’t trust them blindly either.
Amazon's “Generate Listing” tool is like an intern who just read a blog post on copywriting. Use it to save time — but double-check everything it spits out.
Otherwise, you’ll end up with a listing that looks sharp… and sells squat.
Stay smart. Stay scrappy. Stay human. 🧠💪
👋 Until next time,
