Before You Order Inventory... Do This One Thing First
My 24-hour rule has stopped more bad product ideas than any research tool ever has.

What if I told you that waiting 24 hours has saved me thousands of dollars?
Sounds crazy, right?
Most new Amazon sellers think success comes from finding the "perfect" product.
It doesn't.
Success comes from avoiding bad products.
That's a huge difference.
I've watched sellers spend weeks researching a product, fall in love with the numbers, wire thousands to a supplier...
...only to realize a month later they bought a warehouse full of regrets.
I've been there.
And that's exactly why I created my 24-Hour Product Test.
It's simple.
It's free.
And it forces emotion to leave the room before money enters.
☕ The Coffee Mug That Almost Cost Me $8,000
A few years ago, I found what looked like a winner.
It was a premium insulated coffee mug.
Sales were strong.
Reviews were decent.
The profit calculator looked amazing.
I was already picturing the sales notifications rolling into my phone.
I even had the supplier picked out.
Then I stopped.
Instead of placing the order, I told myself...
"Sleep on it."
The next day I opened the listing again.
This time I noticed something I completely missed.
Three new competitors had entered in just two weeks.
Prices were dropping.
The biggest seller had started offering coupons.
Then I checked Google Trends.
Interest had flattened.
One more click...
I discovered a large brand was launching a nearly identical product.
That single day of waiting saved me from ordering nearly $8,000 worth of inventory that probably would've become expensive storage fees.
That wasn't luck.
That was having a process.
⏰ My 24-Hour Product Test
Whenever I think I've found a winning product...
I walk away.
Seriously.
No supplier messages.
No deposits.
No late-night excitement.
Then I come back with fresh eyes and ask myself these questions.
✅ 1. Do I still love the product after sleeping on it?
Excitement fades.
Good opportunities don't.
If I still like it tomorrow, that's a good sign.
✅ 2. Has anything changed?
Amazon changes every day.
I check:
New competitors
Price changes
Coupon wars
Review growth
Sponsored ads
Sometimes one day tells a completely different story.
✅ 3. Could I explain this product to a friend?
If I can't explain why it'll sell in one minute...
I probably don't understand it well enough.
Simple wins.
Confused loses.
✅ 4. What's the worst-case scenario?
I ask myself...
"If I lose every dollar on this order...
...can I recover?"
If the answer is no...
I either reduce the order size or move on.
Protecting your cash is part of scaling.
✅ 5. Am I buying because the data says yes...
...or because I want it to work?
This one hurts.
Sometimes we force ourselves to believe a product is good because we've already spent hours researching it.
Time invested isn't proof.
The numbers are.
✅ 6. Would I buy this product today if I had never seen it before?
This is my favorite question.
It removes emotion.
If the answer is yes...
Keep going.
If the answer is maybe...
Walk away.
There will always be another product.
Always.
🎯 Here's the funny thing...
I've never regretted waiting 24 hours.
I've regretted rushing.
More than once.
The best Amazon sellers aren't the fastest.
They're the most patient.
Anyone can click "Send Payment."
Professionals know when not to.
That's where profits live.
💡 The Big Lesson
Your biggest mistake probably won't be choosing the wrong supplier.
It'll be ordering inventory before you've challenged your own excitement.
The 24-Hour Product Test gives your brain time to catch what your emotions miss.
One day of patience can save months of frustration.
💬 My favorite saying
"Excitement buys inventory. Patience builds businesses."
Write that one down.
You'll use it often.
Until next time...
May your products stay profitable, your inventory stay moving, and your coffee stay stronger than your excuses. ☕📦
