ā

ā
How to track if theyāre actually working
Buckle up. Letās get your product ranking. š
šÆ How to Identify the Best Keywords
Not all keywords are created equal. You need high-traffic, high-relevance keywords that match what customers are actually searching for. Hereās how you find them:
1ļøā£ Use Amazonās Own Search Bar
Start typing a keyword related to your product in Amazonās search bar. Youāll see a drop-down of autofill suggestionsāthose are real searches from actual customers. If Amazon suggests it, people are searching for it.
2ļøā£ Spy on Your Competitors
Find your top competitors and analyze their:
Title & Bullet Points ā What main keywords do they use?
Backend Keywords (More on this later)
Customer Reviews & Q&A ā Customers literally tell you what words they use.
3ļøā£ Use Keyword Research Tools
Tools like Helium 10, Jungle Scout, and DataDive show you:
Search volume (how often people search for a keyword)
Competition (how many sellers are targeting it)
Relevancy (how closely it matches your product)
4ļøā£ Check Your Own PPC Data
Running Amazon ads? Check which keywords are actually driving sales in your PPC reports. If people are clicking and buying, you know that keyword works.
š„ Pro Tip: Prioritize buyer intent keywords. āOrganic bamboo baby towelā is better than just ābaby towelā because itās more specific and likely to convert.
š Where to Include Keywords in Your Listing
Once you have your golden keywords, where do you put them?
1ļøā£ Title (The Most Important Spot)
Amazon gives you about 200 characters (depends on category). Use them wisely.
Put main keywords at the beginning for max impact.
Avoid keyword stuffingāmake it readable.
Example: Organic Bamboo Baby Towel - Ultra Soft Hooded Newborn Bath Wrap - Hypoallergenic & Absorbent - Perfect for Boys & Girls
2ļøā£ Bullet Points (Sell + Rank)
Use secondary keywords naturally.
Each bullet should focus on a key benefit + a keyword.
Example: Super Soft & Hypoallergenic ā Made from organic bamboo, our hooded baby towel is extra gentle on sensitive newborn skin.
3ļøā£ Product Description (For Extra SEO Love)
Amazonās A9 algorithm scans your description for context. Work in more keywords organically.
Example:
ā Our towel is great for babies.
ā
Our ultra-soft, organic bamboo baby towel keeps your newborn warm and dry after bath time. Perfect for baby boys and girls, this absorbent and hypoallergenic towel makes a great baby shower gift.
This is where you sneak in keywords that donāt fit naturally in the listing. You get 249 bytes (not characters).
ā Things to include:
Synonyms (e.g., āinfant towelā if youāre selling a baby towel)
Common misspellings (Amazon auto-corrects most, but some still work)
Spanish keywords (e.g., ātoalla de bebĆ©ā)
š« Things not to include:
Brand names (Amazon prohibits this)
Repeat keywords (Amazon already indexes them from your title & bullets)
š„ Pro Tip: Keep testing. Update backend keywords every few months based on new data.
š How Do You Know If Your Keywords Are Working?
Amazon SEO isnāt set it and forget it. Hereās how to track progress:
1ļøā£ Check Your Ranking
Use Helium 10ās Keyword Tracker or Sellerboard to see where your product ranks for each keyword.
Are you moving up for key terms? ā
Stuck on page 10? Time to tweak.
2ļøā£ Look at Your Sales & Click-Through Rate (CTR)
If your impressions (views) are high but CTR is low, your listing isnāt grabbing attention. Time to tweak your title or main image.
3ļøā£ Monitor Conversion Rate
More traffic is great, but are people actually buying?
If not:
Your keywords may not be buyer-intent (change them).
Your pricing or listing may need work.
4ļøā£ Run A/B Tests
Try different keyword placements and track which version converts better. Amazonās Manage Your Experiments tool makes this easy.
š„ Pro Tip: Winning on Amazon is all about constant optimization. Small changes = big results over time.
š The Bottom Line
If youāre not showing up in search, youāre invisible.
To win:
ā
Find the right keywords with real data
ā
Place them strategically in your listing
ā
Track & tweak based on performance
Amazon rewards relevance and conversions. Focus on that, and youāll rank higher, sell more, and grow faster.
š” Repeatable Proverb: The right keywords donāt just get you seenāthey get you paid.
